Idaho State Criterium Championships

StatecritwomenssprintIt is an Idaho championship weekend and today was the criterium. Having the criterium the day after a 90-mile road race may give an advantage to those who skipped the road race, but the crit is such a different type of event that it probably didn’t make too much of a difference. The women’s race was first and Heather did pretty well. She doesn’t have the leg speed due to her lack of racing and training, but she still won a prime and got second in the final sprint.

My race went okay, but my legs were feeling yesterday’s ride. I sprinted once for what I thought was a prime, but it wasn’t…bummer! There were some attacks and a crash, but it pretty much stayed together for most of the race. I moved up with one lap to go to see if I could do something in the final sprint, but I didn’t work hard enough to get into the front five riders for the final corner. So I ended up getting around ninth or so (there were some recording issues at the finish).
