More TT Practice

Javelin-Bike-Shop-2Uhl and I rode the course again on Wednesday, this time with the 56–42 chainrings that I would use in the race. I actually felt pretty good. We had great help at Nationals. Bobbie Hall, a chiropractor in the area, volunteered to do massage for our team. She was wonderful. We all got massages on Wednesday to loosen us up for the time trial. Uhl decided to shorten the bars I have on my time trial bike, so the shifters are more accessible. The bars are aluminum, so Uhl used a pipe cutter to cut them, which worked really well. The shortened bars had a ridge that prevented the bar end shifters from fitting into the bars. Therefore, Uhl had to spend hours using a Dremel to remove the ridge and make the shifters fit. Like I said, I was so happy that Uhl was there with me. The team did have a mechanic. Nicole talked her friend, John Owens, into being our mechanic. He did a phenomenal job. Poor John had to build up Kele’s new Javelin time trial bike the day before the time trial. He also had to help out everyone else with their equipment problems and needs.
