Homedale

Homedale_1Eagle, ID — Today was supposed to be another long day in the saddle. It was colder than last week but I thought the sun would make it feel warmer. Funny thing, I felt colder than last week’s epic ride!? Maybe the humidity was higher due to the inversion? To make matters worse, I headed out towards Wilder, like I did last week, but instead of turning north towards Payette, I went south. Since it was a southeast wind, I thought I’d rather come home with a tailwind than a headwind.

That left turn on route 95 drops down a hill into a valley where Homedale and Marsing are. It felt even colder there than up by Nampa. I think they had an inversion of their own down there. Homedale isn’t much to write home about but I stopped at the Jackson’s to top-off on water, then headed towards Marsing. Going over the Snake River was cool. In the southwest area of Nampa I found some pretty good roads with hardly any cars which will add more ride options later in the season. The crosswind was strong and even though I wanted to do a longer ride, I ended up going straight home. I was hoping to get six but my total ride time was only 4:45. I was glad to get home. I think my swim, cardio and Pilates this morning at the gym took more out of me than I would have thought.
