Break Time

Instead of staying in Utah an extra day we decided to check out and head home after the awards ceremony. The weather was still cool for the drive home and Heather and I got to talk about our plans for the next few weeks. Since my results weren’t that great this weekend I decided to take my mid-season break now and then build back up for a peak in late July, just in time for the Wells Fargo Twilight Criterium. During this break, I’m going to stay off the bike and do some cross-training. I’m also going to increase my weight training to every other day.

This morning Heather and I went to the Idaho Athletic Club in Eagle and did a Pilates class then lifted. Even though I have been lifting once a week since the winter, I have a feeling I’m going to be sore tomorrow. I did more than the usual maintenance lift. My plan is to get back on the bike late next week, just in time for the Tour of Eagle Criterium. Then I will do a couple weeks of base miles while continuing to lift. Followed by a build period, then a taper period for a peak in late July.
