Two-a-Day

2008030501cropI woke up early enough today to jump on the rollers before going to work. I thought it was a great idea so I’d have more time to recover before my next workout. The thing I always forget is how weak I feel riding in the morning. I typically wake up hungry and when I start my ride at 5 AM, there’s just nothing in my legs. I wanted to do 2×20 minute LT’s but ended up doing 4×5 minute I don’t know what to call ’em. My wattage progressively increased with each interval, but only the last two were in true LT land and only for 10 minutes.

2008030501microThe last one I did with microintervals (30 seconds on, 30 seconds off). It went better than I expected as I remember them hurting a lot when I did them last season. But then again, it was only five minutes. We’ll see what happens when I try to do a 20-minute LT with microintervals?!

2008030502crop_3Since there’s more and more daylight in the evenings I decided to double-up today and do another workout…this time with more fuel in my body. I warmed up on the rollers then headed north on Eagle Rd to do some sprints. Power was a little low, but I’m blaming that on the morning workout plus the chilly air. I sprint so much better when it’s warm out. So adding the two workouts up it was an okay day, but each workout individually was just so-so.
