Testing the Waters

This morning my resting HR was finally down and my temp was normal so I went out for a long tempo ride. I did my favorite flat course of this length: Hamilton Corner. I kept it at a tempo pace for most of the ride. I did one sprint to see what my max wattage was like and it was pretty pathetic so I bagged the idea of doing more sprints. Instead, I did a 20-minute LT push on Hwy 52 into Emmett. It actually felt good because I haven’t gone hard for a while. But I did feel a noticeable drop in power after about 2 1/2 hours. But it wasn’t too bad; I still managed to keep my average wattage to a respectable level even for a 3:20 ride. Looking at the interval power, it wasn’t anything to write home about. But I think it was OK given recent events (crash, flu, etc).
