Bonk

Click to view intervalsSo I think I had my first “bonk” of 2009. I jumped on my rollers and warmed up for 10 minutes then did a 50-minute LT interval at decent wattage followed by high-tempo. I felt good most of the ride but after an hour and thirty, my legs started to feel like Jell-O.

I did five more minutes of tempo then eased up and that’s when I could really feel it…I was bonking hard! With a light lunch and only one bottle of stuff, I probably underestimated my caloric needs. But at least I was riding indoors where at any point, you can just call it quits and jump off. When you ride outside and bonk miles out, limping back home is no fun at all!
